Description
The Golden-Cheeked Warbler is a Neo-tropical migratory songbird. A Golden-Cheeked Warbler is approximately 4-5 inches long, with an 8 inch wingspan. The male and female warblers look very similar to each other. The general color characteristics of a Golden-Cheeked Warbler is black back, throat, and cap, yellow cheeks, a black stripe through the eye, and a white lower breast. The only difference is the male has more vibrant, bold colors. In figure 1, on the left, the bright yellow cheeks of a male warbler can be seen at Reicher Ranch. The Golden-Cheek was placed on the endangered species list due to habitat loss in 1990.
